Turning Passion to Career
After attending college for a degree in Criminal Justice, Dawn opted for marriage and children instead of pursuing her career goals in law enforcement. After her second child was born she became a stay at home mom. Bored during nap time, she went back to school for Interior Design- something she had always had a passion and knack for, while designing spaces for friends.
Following a divorce and reentering the work force as a bar tender, she painted and refinished furniture as a hobby. Her pieces were selling faster than she could paint and her first custom job can attributed to her realtor and potential buyer. Not long after she was able to quit her job and open Nine20 fulltime.
Today, Dawn is an accomplished painter in demand for designing furniture and spaces for her clients. She prides her self on making the biggest impact she can while working on tight budgets for her clients. Nine20 is going on year five in business and continues to grow.
Dawn's work has been featured in blogs around the world, can be found in several local businesses such as Lollie, The Skunk & Goat Tavern, The Cork 1794. Her talents were also featured on the Discovery Channel's Undercover Billionaire where she helped Glenn Stearns flip a house and design the restaurant Underdog BBQ.
Dawn is a firm believer in small business development and co directs the Underdog Fund for Small Business.
